コラム「カメリア」～早咲き椿と絶景の椿花ガーデン～

　椿の多くの品種は３月ごろに開花を迎えますが、早咲き椿という品種は９月ごろには開花し始めます。
　今回、国際優秀つばき園の認定に申請している椿花ガーデンは、日本一早くヤブツバキが咲く椿園で知られており、早咲き椿の品種を沢山育てているため、早い時期から椿を楽しむことができます。
　また、園内からは視界の開けた丘から絶景の富士山を望むことができます。椿や富士山といった日本の美が堪能できる、世界にも誇れる椿園となっています。

　For many species and cultivars of camellia, the flowering season is around March. However, flowers of some species and cultivars called "early bloomers" start to bloom in September. "Tsubaki-hana-garden," which is applying for ICGE status, is well-known as a garden in which the flowers of Camellia japonica bloom earliest in Japan. Since many "early bloomers" are cultivated in the garden, you can enjoy their flowers from very early in camellia season. You can also enjoy a great view of Mt. Fuji from the top of the hill in this garden. We are very proud of this garden where everyone can appreciate Japanese beauty like camellia japonica and Mt. Fuji.
