By enforcing the reconstruction policy "Create the safe, reliable and sustainable community that does not rely on nuclear energy", Fukushima Prefecture aims to generate energy more than 100% of the primary energy consumed electric amount in the prefecture through renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, small hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass by around 2040.
To meet the goal, it is essential to install renewable energy utilizing various and abundant resources and train and integrate the related businesses together. Public facilities of the prefecture have been actively installing renewable energy. For example, Minami Soma city has been leading the project of renewable energy and achieving steady results. Fukushima prefecture educates the citizens to help them understand renewable energy through plant tours, hands-on learning, and information transmissions.
The prefecture supports the installation of residential solar power generation facilities and renewable energy in the evacuation release area. They also are focused on the realization of a hydrogen society and continue to promote the prefecture to be "pioneer of renewable energy."
