Tokyo Metropolitan Oshima Park,
Tokyo Metropolitan Oshima Senior High School and Tsubaki- hana Garden have been authorized as ICGoE on Feb. 26 ,2016 !
An International Camellia Garden of Excellence (ICGoE) is recognized by the International Camellia Society (ICS), which is an authority on this camellias. About 40 gardens have been recognized as an ICGoE. Getting this recognition gives the garden an honor that it is appreciated globally. To get this recognition, it is necessary for the ICS to determine that the garden meets all the criteria of an ICGoE. (For example, a minimum collection of 200 cultivars or species, stable and perpetual ownership and management structure).
- "Oshima Park", which boasts an overwhelming scale and facilities
The area of the camellia garden is 7ha, which is about 1.5 times that of Tokyo Dome. There are about 1,000 species and cultivars among the 3,200 camellias and 5,000 japonicas in the garden. In addition to the large number of species, it is also furnished with a green house, etc., for an overwhelming scale even compared with the camellia gardens of the world. Even British director Jennifer who came to visit Oshima last year praised it as "the world's best" camellia garden.

- First in the world as an education facility! "Oshima Senior High School"
A camellia garden for locally-rooted education with consideration for the deep connection of Oshima with camellias, this garden maintains more than 1,000 cultivars and pure species of camellias of about 350 species. As valuable learning materials, it utilizes cultivation management training and gardening lessons, etc. for the students. A camellia garden actually being used as educational material is very rare anywhere in the world, and was a large factor in its authorization process. This is also the first case of a school camellia garden being an ICGoE, and it is praised as a very precious camellia garden not seen anywhere else in the world.

- "Tsubaki-hana Garden", with early blooming camellias and an amazing view of Mt. Fuji
In addition to being able to see many early-blooming species of camellias, on a hill in the park it provides an unobstructed view you can enjoy a picturesque view of Mt. Fuji. Offering camellias and Mt. Fuji, two elements of Japanese beauty, has led to this camellia park being praised as one of the best in the world. Also, there are very few camellia gardens in the world as carefully maintained as this one, with about 400 species of 2,000 beautiful camellias for you to enjoy, which was a major factor in this park being authorized.
